Poland played their first official international match on 18th December 1921 in Budapest, where they lost to Hungary 1–0.

Poland have a mixed competitive record when it comes to the FIFA World Cup. Failing to qualify for the majority of tournaments, they have managed to finish 3rd on two occasions, in 1974 and 1982. Beating Brazil, 1-0 and France 3-2, respectively.

Poland first qualified for the UEFA European Championships in 2008. They joint hosted the tournament with Ukraine in 2012 so qualified automatically. Poland reached the Quarter-finals in 2016.

The Polish national kit has always been white and red, this is to represent the colours of the national flag. The home strip is: white shirt, red shorts and white socks.
